LoRaWAN Network Server

LoRaWAN Network Server: free, managed, 400+ device templates

Datacake includes a production-ready LoRaWAN Network Server (LNS): no third-party LNS required, no LNS add-on in your plan, no per-gateway fees. Connect gateways, onboard environmental sensors, stream data to your own systems via HTTPS webhooks or MQTT, and go from first gateway to live dashboards in minutes. Multi-region (EU868, US915, AS923, AU915) and ready for production-scale fleets.

  • Supports Class A, B and C devices
  • Over 400 ready-made LNS device templates (decoder, dashboards, downlinks where available)
  • Stream LNS data out via HTTPS webhooks or MQTTS to BI, BMS, ERP, or your own services
  • Multi-region support (EU868, US915, AS923, and more)

One platform: from gateway to dashboard, without a second LNS bill

Many LoRaWAN stacks need a separate network server, then glue for visualization and for pushing data to the rest of your business. Datacake combines a built-in LNS, application logic, and dashboards. The business case is simple: the LNS and your gateways are included in every subscription. You invest in devices and the platform features you need, not in billing gateways or duplicating a network server you already have.

See the LoRaWAN Network Server product page

LNS and gateways: free in every plan, including the free plan

A clear model: the network server and your gateways are $0. You are never asked to pay for a separate LNS, and gateways are not metered like end devices. What you pay for is devices and the platform options you need.

Free

LoRaWAN Network Server: included at no cost

The Datacake LNS is bundled with the platform in every plan, including the free tier. You never see a line item to “unlock” the network server or to keep using it over time.

Free

Gateways: connect what you need, for free

We do not bill by gateway. Connect the gateways your coverage requires; your bill reflects devices and optional product features, not a per-gateway surcharge on top of the LNS.

You pay for devices and add-on features

Subscriptions and upgrades follow device counts and the capabilities you turn on (alerts, data export, white-label, and the rest of the product). LNS and gateway capacity are not where we add hidden infrastructure fees.

LNS device templates

Over 400 templates: decoders, dashboards, and downlinks out of the box

We maintain a large library of LoRaWAN device profiles. Each template typically ships with a working payload decoder, a sensible dashboard, and (where the hardware supports it) downlink configuration so you are not writing glue code on day one. Select a model, add keys, and start reading clean metrics immediately.

  • Payload decoders and chart-ready fields without manual parsing
  • Pre-built tile layouts tuned to common climate and IAQ use cases
  • Downlink hooks where the device firmware exposes them

Gateway management

Register gateways, watch health, and get told when they drop

Add LoRaWAN gateways in Datacake, track uplink volume and backhaul health, and treat gateway availability as a first-class signal. You can be notified when a gateway goes offline and when it is back, so on-call teams and facility operators are not the last to learn about an outage.

  • Semtech UDP and LoRa Basics Station
  • Live health and traffic signals for your gateway fleet
  • Multi-gateway coverage with clear routing in the platform
  • Online/offline awareness with notifications (email, SMS, webhooks) for outage and recovery

Device onboarding

Onboard environmental sensors in seconds

Add temperature, humidity, CO₂, and air-quality sensors in a few steps. If your hardware is in our template catalog, decoders and dashboards are applied for you. For new models, the same workflow keeps keys, regions, and profiles consistent.

  • Hundreds of supported models in the LNS template library
  • Automatic or guided decoder assignment so payloads land as numbers, not raw hex
  • A single flow from join to a chart you can hand to a customer

Downlinks & configuration

Configure sensors remotely where the firmware allows

When the device supports it, send downlinks to adjust reporting intervals, thresholds, or other parameters from the Datacake interface, reducing site visits and keeping climate and compliance configurations aligned across sites.

Built for a pilot, and for very large LNS rollouts

The platform is used for single sites and for customer deployments in the many-thousands and beyond of LoRaWAN devices on our network server. We do not cap you at a ‘small LNS’ story. If you are designing for growth, the same LNS and operations model scales with you from the first dev kit to a six-figure device estate.

1

From one device

Prototype and field trial on the same stack you will run in production, with no plan change to the core LNS model.

10k+

Proven at volume

Substantial real-world customer deployments: thousands of active devices on Datacake’s LNS per account.

100k+

Headroom in design

The architecture and operations model support large fleet sizes when your roadmap calls for it, with no artificial ceiling in product positioning.

Protocol & infrastructure details

LoRaWAN 1.0.x & 1.1

Support for common LoRaWAN 1.0.2, 1.0.3 and 1.1 device profiles, including the join and security aspects your hardware expects.

Multi-Region

Run EU868, US915, AU915, AS923 and other regional parameters from a single product account, aligned with your gateway and sensor choice.

End-to-End Encryption

LoRaWAN traffic is protected at the network and application layer. Application keys and handling follow Datacake’s secure operational model.

LNS-Scale, Not “Small Demo”

The network server is operated for production estates: from early deployments to accounts with very large device counts. Capacity is architected for serious fleet growth, not a hobby tier.

Low-Latency Uplinks

Uplinks are processed quickly so live dashboards, rules, and outbound streams see fresh data in seconds, where radio conditions allow.

Stream & push to your stack (HTTPS and MQTTS)

LNS-originated data in Datacake is available to you without a second integration product: use HTTPS webhooks to push decoded payloads, or subscribe to a real-time MQTTS stream, so tools such as SAP, data warehouses, BI, BMS, or in-house services receive the same data you see in the UI.
